In fact, the Minnesota National Guard is disputing Walz's military biography, all but accusing him of inflating his rank. A statement from the Minnesota Guard to this show confirms that Walz retired from the military prior to his unit's deployment to Iraq was demoted upon retirement because he had not completed the required coursework. And Walz is also accused of abandoning his platoon, quitting before that deployment to Iraq. Despite his prior claims, Walz never served in a war or a combat zone. Earlier tonight, a guest on the Ingram-Angels show, Laura, had this to say about Walz's time in the Guard. Watch this. Yeah, he was in for 24 years and he quit. Well, okay, so that's what you did. But don't try to make it look like you were a command sergeant major. Don't try to make it look like you were going to some place that was in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. I mean, granted, you know, that's just all embellishment and lies to try to make things look better. Coming up, too. We've also uncovered a 2005 press release from Walz's congressional campaign, which he is quoted as saying, "As a command sergeant major, I have a responsibility not only to ready my battalion for Iraq, but also to serve if I am called. I am dedicated to serving my country to the best of my ability, whether that is in Washington, D.C. or in Iraq." And again, to reiterate, he instead chose to retire, got demoted from that rank as a result, never deployed. A statement from the Harris campaign also confirms that after 24 years of military service, Walz retired in 2005 and says he will continue to be a champion for veterans should he become vice president. Because didn't he also say that 18 to 24 year old, that was Kamala, who said that they were stupid. And didn't he also say that 19 year olds in the guard are basically cooks. And didn't he once say that, oh, that's right. These are the weapons that I used when I was in war. Did he say that too? He did. Listen, he's sometimes a comedian, but in this case, he's a charlatan. His own official biography on the state of Minnesota government website, the governor's website falsely claimed that he retired as a command sergeant. And he was not, he retired as a master sergeant, not as a command sergeant major. That's a really big difference. The reason he retired at the lower rank is he was demoted because he didn't complete his required training and other obligations when he left the military before being deployed to Iraq. And instead he ran for Congress. If you can't get your basic record right in the military, not only are you disserving the American people, you're dishonoring veterans who had that rank or who did stay in, who did go into combat. I think it's going to become an issue that won't go away. And by the way, you were talking about the media. The hill tonight is still reporting the old story. It's still reporting other newspapers still reporting. He retired as a command sergeant major. He did not. And I think that that's important. It's on the record from the national guard. It isn't that hard for journalism to get it right. Yeah. Pete, is this a case of stolen valor as, uh, well, people he served with now claim and did he also lie about being a head coach? He did. He was an assistant coach. He was a linebackers coach, a defensive coach. That's great. That's important, but not the head coach. Uh, John Solomon is completely correct. This is a case of stolen valor. Sean, I don't say that lightly. This is a guy who ran for Congress in 2006 while his men were doing 22 months in Iraq, 22 months, the Minnesota national guard ended up doing in combat in Iraq. And you know what they can't do when they're deployed? They can't speak. So they couldn't contradict the claims he was making that he was the highest serving enlisted member ever to be elected to Congress. He retired when he was a command sergeant major, but he was actually just a sergeant major. And to keep that rank, you have to complete the sergeant major's academy, which he never did, which means when he quit, he gets demoted to E eight was a master sergeant. He knew that when he retired, he knew it when he claimed to be a command sergeant major. It was all lie. And that is absolutely stolen valor. And by the way, he likes to say he was in support of operation, enduring freedom. I deployed to Guantanamo Bay in 2004. We were not in combat. We were in support of what we're doing in Afghanistan. Cause they were sending the Taliban over. I never claimed to be in combat. Yet he all pull the tape. Let's find him, Sean. They're all over the place. He's, he's convoluting his words about whether he was in combat or not. This is all words though, Sean. Okay. I got more though. Go ahead. All right. So no, no, no. Okay. I would normally serve anybody. I would normally praise anybody that served in the guard. I normally would, but he referred to guardsmen as 19 year old cooks. And then he said, we can make sure that those weapons of war I carried in war is the only place where those weapons are at. This is what he said. We can do background checks. We can do CDC research. We can make sure we don't have reciprocal carry among state and we can make sure that those weapons of war that I carried in war is the only place where those weapons were at. Okay. Well, he never carried a war. Never. That's why he was in Italy for six months supported. That's fine. Total lie. And he knew it at the time in the entire time he was, he was the command sergeant major. He's in charge of the logistics, the training, the emotional support, the preparation for every man in his battalion, a field artillery battalion, a very important role if you're headed to Iraq. And when he got the orders and the notification that his men were going to combat, he said, I quit. I'm out. I'm done. And he had two years left. Exactly what happened. And he had two years left in his contract, but he was beyond his retirement. So he could work his way to get out of his contract, which he did. You know what the real, the real phrase is for guys that serve with Tim Walz is no, it's Tim a walls, exit questions. When his men needed him, he left, he bailed. He did not deploy. He spent 24 years in the military, Sean. You go with your men to combat if you care about those men. But if you don't, you care about yourself and politics, you stay home. And that's what Tim Walz did. And that's why so many people are frustrated and angry about this. He's Tim a walls in my book. It's interesting, uh, the lie about George W. Bush ended Dan Rather's career over a similar issue. Uh, my question is, is this stolen valor John Solomon? Listen, it's a lie to the American people. And it's a dishonor to every person who served in the ranks and actually deployed and actually had the rank of a command sergeant major. Uh, he'll have to be held accountable. welcome back America professor John you these these decisions against Trump do have consequences for future presidents and ex-presidents which is my point let me ask you on the civil side the court is basically thrown open the door in many respects they've allowed people to sue Donald Trump over January 6th police officers and others who claim injury as a result of his alleged actions or lack of actions so my question to you is this the federal immigration laws are very specific about what shouldn't shouldn't be done my orcas has been impeached they've laid out a pretty strong case when you read these articles they've issued executive orders they've done all these things and people are being damaged people are dying from the drugs coming across their properties are being damaged people are being raped and brutalized and god knows what does this not at least open the door to lawyers to push the argument that wait a minute you ruled in Washington DC that a president could be sued civilly for conduct or actions that rationally follow from his decisions or lack of decisions doesn't that like spring opened thousands of doors for possible litigation and mark you still got that litigator mindset in your head I think that's exactly right if the Supreme Court is going to start undermining the principle of presidential immunity as it the lower courts are doing the DC circuit then eventually you are going to see more lawsuits not just against a Donald Trump you're gonna see them against a Barack Obama or against a Joe Biden because the whole point of immunity was to make sure the presidents could reach policy decisions without constantly having to worry about being lawsuit about by soon we want them to make the decisions that are best for the country and not just best for their personal legal liabilities but if the DC circuit and ultimately the Supreme Court I think start to question the immunity that presidents have as you say the January 6 trials by the police officers for example who were harmed in the riot then that's going to bring that doctrine and protection for presidents into doubt and there's no reason why President Biden then would be immune when Donald Trump is not one of the other things that seems to be a common thread in these cases particularly at the federal level is the rush to judgment the cutting corners on appeal the cutting corners on the right to even bring an appeal you see that at the DC circuit with the three judge panel said oh by the way you don't appeal here and you have seven days to appeal to the Supreme Court I can tell you in all my years I've never seen anything like that in my life I think it raises a serious due process question and it's almost like the New York case where they're saying oh you can appeal but cough up 400 million dollars and if you don't cough it up we're gonna steal your properties we're gonna sell them pennies on the dollar and and that's the punishment you're gonna get just because you want to appeal have you seen things like this before let alone against the former president the United States first mark this has never happened with a former president we have never allowed the legal system to harass someone like this with these kind of cases in both federal and state court I still have some waning faith in the federal court system at least in Washington DC that the Supreme Court justices are watching that and they've already rebuffed the special counsel Jack Smith a few times what worries me is what's going on in the state courts like New York you just said it mark I think in part this 350 million damages award which has a hundred million dollars of interest tacked onto it is so large not connected to any damages anybody suffered on whether Donald Trump allegedly you know inflated his asses to get better mortgage terms that amount I think is so large in part because it's designed to prevent Donald Trump from appealing because to appeal that case he has to put up 450 million dollars just to get a hearing in the appellate court to correct what I think looked like bias from the trial judge in that case that's a great point first time I've heard it so you make the penalty so high that basically effectively you're trying to prevent him from appealing I think the president's people should immediately move for stay try and get this case in the federal court and try and get it to the Supreme Court under the 8th Amendment or some other aspect because you know to keep going to Democrats who act like Democrats rather than real prosecutors and real judges becomes a problem John you I want to thank you it doesn't matter it does amaze me that you're a professor UC Berkeley law not because of your brilliance but because of your attitude in your viewpoint so so hang in there thanks we all need to have thick skins these days and I certainly have it in Berkeley yeah well God bless you my friend you're great we'll be right back
